Do I need a compressor?
It depends on the type of gun: some need compressed air, others have a built in turbine. If you need the air as well, the compressore has to be sized on the air consumption of the gun. Tell us what you need to do and we will prepare the right combination.
How do I set the dilution?
You follow the paint manufacturer instructions and check with a test on a piece of card: too thick and it will not atomise and gives an orange peel finish, too thin and it runs. It is worth spending five minutes on tests before pointing the gun at the real piece.
How much do I have to mask off?
Far more than seems necessary. The paint mist settles well beyond the area you are spraying and indoors it gets everywhere. It is the part of the job that takes the most time, and skipping it is the most common regret.
Do I need respiratory protection?
Yes. Spraying puts particles and solvents into the air, so you need a mask suited to the product and good ventilation. It is not a formality: indoors the concentration rises quickly.
