A travel cot is one of the most requested items for anyone travelling with small children, for a simple reason: almost no short let flat has one, and taking one on a plane is impractical. It goes up and folds down in a few minutes and gives the child a place of its own, which as well as being safe helps them sleep because it recreates a familiar reference point in an unfamiliar house. The things to check are the age, because above a certain height the child can climb out, and the space available in the room. The mattress supplied is made for that cot and should not be swapped for a thicker one. Message us with the age of the child and the number of days.

Up to what age can it be used?
The practical limit is not age but height and the ability to pull themselves up: once the child can climb over the side the cot is no longer suitable and you need another solution. Tell us the age and height and we will tell you honestly whether it is still the right thing.
Is the mattress included?
The mattress is part of the cot and is sized for that base. It should not be swapped for a thicker or softer one, because the gap between mattress and side is one of the things that makes the cot safe. At collection we check that it is complete.
How long does it take to put it up?
A few minutes, and folding it away is just as quick once you understand the mechanism, which is not obvious the first time. We show you at collection so you are not fighting with it on the evening you arrive with a tired child.
Can it be used outdoors?
On a veranda or in the garden for a daytime nap yes, watching out for direct sun and insects. It is not designed to stay outside overnight or in the rain. If you are staying on a campsite, tell us the situation and we will talk it through.
