When you need a 230 angle grinder
The difference between a small angle grinder and a big one is the depth of cut: with a 125 disc you get a few centimetres, and to go through a slab, a thick section or a block you need a bigger diameter. The large machine is used with both hands, it is heavy and it develops considerable torque, so it has to be treated with respect: a disc binding on a machine that size tears the tool out of your hands. It is not the right choice for finishing work, where the standard angle grinder is easier to control. Message us with the material and the thickness to be cut.

When do you need the big one instead of the 125?
When the thickness you have to go through exceeds the cutting depth of the small disc. For finishing, deburring and thin cuts the 125 is easier to handle and safer. Message us with what you need to cut and how thick it is and we will tell you honestly which of the two is enough.
Is it dangerous to use?
It is used with both hands with the side handle fitted, with eye protection and with the piece clamped. The torque it develops is considerable and a disc binding tears the machine out of your hands. It is not a tool to improvise awkward positions with.
What discs do you need?
The disc is chosen to suit the material, and using a metal disc on masonry or the other way round is dangerous as well as ineffective. Tell us exactly what you are cutting and we will prepare the correct discs, checking during opening hours what we can give you for those dates.
Does it need a special power supply?
It draws more than a small power tool, so a thin, long extension lead can trip the residual current device on start up. Use an extension lead of adequate cross section and the nearest socket you can: it is the most common cause of interruptions during the job.
